Cell Phone Tracker

Geocaching, a modern form of the scavenger hunt, enjoys increasing popularity. Two P seminars of Q 11 the Balthasar-Neumann-Gymnasium (BNG) want to take advantage of this and Marktheidenfeld and its environment to develop a "geo-tour". This is to hide at least five caches (treasures) which then have to find the treasure hunter with the help of GPS devices or Smartphones.

If the market Heather fields "geo-tour" is officially defined, it would be the fourth only in whole Germany. So far, there is one in the Paderborner land (with 75 caches) and two in the Hanover area, one with the beautiful name of "Geoheimnisträger". In Austria, there is exactly one, namely on the Hochkönig: the "Highking-tour". That sounds deliberately as "hiking" (hiking). The seminar participants from Marktheidenfeld to the beginning of the school year have this tour with their instructors Jochen Arnold and Holger Seidel dealt with. Of course it was also about the fun - but the students wanted suggestions for the planned market heaths collect "Geo-Tour".

Whole city could benefit

Recently, an information event held on the BNG also headmistress Anne-Marie Greving and Inge Albert, the head of the Municipal Department of city marketing and tourism, attended.

In the school's library, Rebekka explained Kariya and Jonas Hofmann how the city could benefit from the "geo-tour". When young people come to Marktheidenfeld, they were indeed primarily outdoors - but they should also somewhere to buy, eat, and sleep. That would benefit from the trade, the restaurateurs and hoteliers. The students believe that a "geo-tour" for Marktheidenfeld would be an absolute USP. Young people would travel from all over Germany, even from around the world. So far, there are 13 caches in Marktheidenfeld and trappings. The young people want to significantly expand this number - and in such places where the hiding places, a story. Finding should be even harder, easier - and the students want a "creative guidance".

It is also clear: free of charge there is no such classification to the "geo-tour". It requires a thorough preparation and funding facilities, because the license fee costs money. That not startled Inge Albert from the city however. "I'm thrilled by the idea. The barn doors are open for cooperation", she said. The signs are good so that the project of the school undergoes external support. If all goes so, how students themselves think, Marktheidenfeld could emerge next year on a thematic world map as a "Geo-tour place".

Geocaching - treasure hunting in the 21st century

Worldwide, there are over six million active geocachers. They "hunt" hiding places that are published on the basis of geographical coordinates on the Internet and then searched with the help of a GPS receiver. Typically, a cache is a waterproof container in a logbook and often different small barter objects are located. To the documentation of his successful quest can sign up the Finder in the logbook and the cache again is hidden on the site, where he was previously found.
